It is a great pleasure for me and my staff that Hamburg has been chosen
to host the annual meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery in
May 2011. We are delighted to have found a nice springtime slot in the
newly refurbished Congress Center Hamburg.
This time we intend to use the opportunity to introduce Sunday as a
voluntary “educational day”, during which experts will give lectures
on current medical developments in neurosurgical practice and provide
an overview of the areas where high level subspecialties have already
been developed, since it’s not easy to keep up-to-date with all the latest
developments. This educational day will also be open to participants
who are not members of DGNC but who want to receive further
Furthermore, we would like to propose that in addition to the main
topics, this annual meeting has an overarching theme that refl ects
our own structure as a professional society, our self-perception and
our position in politics and society. In this case, the motto “Identity
in Subspecialty and Interdisciplinary” is intended to enrich the existing
scientifi c programme with a selection of invited lectures.
We are pleased to invite you to Hamburg in Spring 2011 and look
