Welcome Address

Dear colleagues,

Joint Meetings of American and German Neurosurgeons have a longstanding tradition. E.g., the presidential silver plate of the German Society of Neurosurgery (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Neurochirurgie, DGNC) is a gift of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery (AAcNS) on the occasion of a Joint Meeting in New York in 1980!

We would like to continue our transatlantic friendship and invite you to participate in a Joint Meeting of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery with the DGNC as well as with the German Academy of Neurological Surgery in Heidelberg in October 2015.

Our Joint Meeting will focus on recent research and newest clinical evidence in all fields of Neurosurgery. We are looking forward to an exchange of excellent academic neurosurgeons from the US and Germany.

Moreover, we would like to share friendship by inviting you to one of the most picturesque areas of Germany. Heidelberg is the oldest German university founded in 1386 with two medical faculties in Heidelberg and Mannheim. Heidelberg combines old and new, tradition and innovation, which can be seen and can be felt by visiting the old castle, the old city, the university and the modern campus of our medical center.

Besides neurosurgical science, we would like to give you an impression of our city, our country, our culture and more. Maybe you even consider to extend your stay in Heidelberg and meet friends and colleagues nearby, before or after the meeting.

A very warm welcome to all of you!

Prof. Dr. Andreas Unterberg
Chairman of the Joint Meeting
